Tejo Internacional is a relatively undisturbed area, along a central stretch of the border between Portugal and Spain. The landscape is mostly rocky, with scrubland vegetation and Cork and Holm Oak woods. This last feature gives the area some traces of Mediterranean habitat, and this is translated is the bird cast present. The area is classified as Tejo Internacional Natural Park.
Like Douro Internacional, the area is known amongst birdwatchers mainly due to its abundance and diversity of soaring birds. Resident species include Griffon and Black Vultures, and Golden and Spanish Imperial Eagles. Black Stork, Egyptian Vulture and Short-toed Eagle are some of the soaring summer visitors. Other interesting breeding species include Hoopoe, Blue Rock Thrush, Black-eared Wheatear, Black Wheatear, Orphean Warbler or Golden Oriole.
