Ilhéus do Porto Santo
Porto Santo islets host important populations of breeding seabirds like Cory’s Shearwater, Little Shearwater, Bulwer’s Petrel, Band-rumped Strom Petrel, Common Tern and Roseate Tern. Resident species include Atlantic Canary, Rock Sparrow and the regional endemisms Berthelot’s Pipit and Plain Swift.
There is no regular transportation to the islets. Being a network of Marine Protected Areas, there are restrictions to visitation, and it is not allowed to go ashore without proper permission from Madeira Natural Parks service. Good ways to explore the area is by going on a pelagic trip, or by seawatching from Porto Santo.
